Cameron Highland is more widely known for its tea, flowers, vegetables, and strawberries. Somehow, a thing that impressed me more in my recent trip to Cameron Highland was the “PearlCorn“…
PearlCorn is similar to ordinary corn except that some of its grains are pearl in colour, as shown in the picture below.
I bought one and it was so nice and warming to enjoy the simmered corn in cooling surroundings. The Pearl Corn was succulent and much more sweeter than ordinary one.
When I was at another stall later, I was told by the vendor that he was one of the few vendors at Cameron Highland selling the REALCameron Highland grown Pearl Corn and the restwas actually brought from Kelantan. I did not know whether what he said was true but since Pearl Corn was so nice, taking only one was definately not enough, so I decided to try another one from this vendor. The Pearl Corn could be eaten after being heated in boiling water for about one minute.
I couldn’t believe it!! It was even juicer than the one earlier and the juice squirt out from the grains and off from mouth in every single bite!!
The uncle then explained that those brought from outstation had dried up a bit so they were not as juicy as those freshly plucked from Cameron Highland. He then cross-cut the ear of the maize for us the feel the wetness of the ear.
PearlCorn tasted very good even eaten raw. It tasted slightly greener than the simmered one…

As of 6 February 07, LIONDIV has NAV of roughly RM 10.30. The current price is only RM 6! A stock to accumulate…
Interestingly, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has a stake of 2.5million shares (0.37%) in LIONDIV. (Star Bizweek 18 Nov 2006)
Gem in hand: Robust and fast-growing Parkson Retail business in China
Net Asset Value : RM 8.57 (Please refer the breakdown of assets as attached below)
Current price: RM 5.30
Fair Value: RM 6.86
Recommendation: BUY
Potential upside: 29.43%
Risks to the recommendation:
1) Dow Jones may undergo correction in near future as Dow Jones has already rallied for quite sometime. This will very likely affect the sentiment of bourses all over the world.
2) Stiffer competition from other retailers in China.
3) Any future restructuring within the LION group which is unfavourable to LIONDIV
4) Ringgit appreciates strongly against HKD. However this is unlikely and thus this is not a real worrying factor.
