Wanted to assign a task to my subordinate but I didn’t see him in office nor site (he might be at some other location of the under construction highway since the highway under our package is about 25km long). So I called him and he said that he was at nearby commercial area, about 5 minutes drive from our site office. [Probably he was taking early lunch since it was about lunch time].
In late afternoon, I still didn’t see him and started to suspect him when the office staff told me they didn’t see him come to office the whole day. I gave him a call again and he said he was at the same commercial area, having tea. [Why having tea during working hour?] Then, I told him I wanted to see him and he replied he will be back to office in 30 minutes’ time. [Most probably he was tellng a lie... I didn't want to interrogate further his whereabout, keeping the lies "uncovered", so that he would be "deceived" that I believe in his lies... Hehe... Would be interesting to see how many more lies are used to cover the lies... :P]
About 20 minutes later, I received a SMS from him saying that he had an emergency at home and needed to go back immediately… [Adoo'h... of course he was lying...]
It is not right to get someone to stamp his attendance card when he was absent from work. 2nd, 3rd, 4th… lies were used to cover previous lies… More disappointing one was the lies were actually an insult to the one’s intelligence…
Lesson learnt: One should know his/ her audience before starting a lie…
